People ask me all the time: why “Boston Made”?
The answer is simpler than people expect, and it means more to me than almost anything else about the company.
It started with Boston
Boston is my dog. He’s a GoldenDoodle, and he’s family.
And Boston is my favorite city in the world.
When it came time to name what I was building, those two things came together. The company is named after him — and after the city I love.
Boston Made, Inc. carries his name. Every brand under it does too.
Where it actually began
Before there was a portfolio, before there was an app or a newsroom or software, there was Boston Made Pets. That was the first venture. That’s where this whole thing started.
Everything else grew out of it, one piece at a time:
- Boston Made — the parent company, now home to ATLAS
- Boston Made Newsroom — our news and editorial side
- Boston Made Reader — a free reading app across the network
- The Boston Made App — where you can read the origin story and meet Boston himself
- Fenway Web — our web and digital-services arm
- Pupwear — which brings it right back to dogs
Why a name matters
A name is a promise. When I put “Boston Made” on something, I want it to mean it was built with care, built with grit, and built by someone who actually shows up.
That’s what a good dog teaches you. Loyalty. Showing up every day. Being glad to see the people you love.
I’m trying to build a company that way.
So the next time you see the Boston Made name, now you know: it’s a dog, a city, and a dream — and all three are real.
